Escapism is at the heart of my work. I’ve always valued daydreaming for it’s freedom and solitude. Looking into a landscape the possibilities for meandering narrative are endless.
I’m originally from Edinburgh where I studied at Edinburgh College of Art, specialising in costume design. My career in film and television took me to many interesting places but life’s twists and turns eventually led me to a place where I can now enjoy more artistic freedom.
I now live near St Andrews in North East Fife in a small village with a big view that reaches out over farmland to the mountains in the distance and curves down to the tides of the North Sea. I’m inspired by this headland and how it’s affected by the interfering weather.
I’m always searching for a blurred line between abstract and realism in my paintings.
